Why I'm Completely Obsessed with Flodesk (And You Might Be Too)

Honest review & new features I’m trying this year

Uncommon Folk

If you’ve been around me in the last few months, you would probably have heard me chat about Flodesk like we’re in the first weeks of dating.

Ok, I might be swooning hard, but there’s a reason.

As a self-proclaimed creative who is also deep into automation and tech (please tell me there are more of us out there?!), it’s my dream space. Usually platforms go one way or the other. Tech and clunky, or creative but doesn’t quite hit the spot.

Not Flodesk.

They’ve just nailed it.

The perfect blend of creating the most easy-to-use tech that you actually WANT to spend time in and creating, but with powerful tech solutions to really drive your business forward.

There’s been a lot going on so I just wanted to share some sweet features I have been living, as well as some epic ones I’ll be going hard on in the next year.

The Canva Integration That’s Changed My Life (Ok, My Desktop)

No more saving, reuploading. This might sound like a little thing, but my god, my desktop is SO MUCH tidier from not having to save, download, find and reupload every damn time.

Now a simple click and it’s there. Fully integrated.

You know that chaotic dance we all do? Design something beautiful in Canva, hit download, watch it land in your downloads folder with seventeen other versions called “Header_Final_FINAL_v3”, hunt for it, then drag it into your email platform. Rinse and repeat for every single image.

It’s exhausting just typing that out.

With Flodesk’s Canva integration, you literally click one button and your design appears right there in your email. No middle man. No desktop graveyard of forgotten PNGs. No “wait, which version did I want to use again?”

It’s one of those features that seems small on paper but has fundamentally changed how I work. I’m not context-switching between tabs, I’m not breaking my creative flow to wrestle with file management, and I’m definitely not accidentally using the wrong version of something because I got my files mixed up.

For someone who creates as much visual content as I do, this has been an absolute game-changer. My creative process is smoother, faster, and honestly just more enjoyable. And when tools make the work more enjoyable, you end up creating more. It’s a beautiful cycle.

Easy Checkout: Because Selling Shouldn’t Be Harder Than Creating

I started using Flodesk’s checkout feature around a year ago now. And it’s been such a gamechanger.

We all know that you can create a sweet digital product and then you realise the hard work starts when you have to build the sales page, set up automations, connect payment processors, test everything seventeen times because something always breaks, etc.

Not with Flodesk.

From sales page templates to easy automations to follow up, it’s all in one. You can get it up and selling in a few hours. Without even needing your own website, just direct link in.

Let me paint you a picture of what this actually means in practice. You have a brilliant idea for a digital product. Maybe it’s a template pack, a mini-course, a guide, whatever. You create it (the fun part), and then traditionally you’d need to:

  • Build a sales page (probably in a separate tool)
  • Set up payment processing (connect Stripe or PayPal, pray it works)
  • Create thank you pages
  • Set up email automations for delivery
  • Configure confirmations and receipts
  • Test everything multiple times
  • Probably troubleshoot at least three things that broke

It’s exhausting. And honestly? It’s the reason so many amazing digital products never see the light of day. The tech overwhelm kills the momentum.

But with Flodesk, you use one of their gorgeous sales page templates (and they really are gorgeous), customize it to match your brand, add your product details, set your price, and you’re basically done. The automations are pre-built and intuitive. The payment processing is integrated. The delivery emails are automated.

There’s also all-in easy discount setup, upsells, and NO TRANSACTION FEES. This is wild.

Most platforms take a cut of every sale, which adds up fast when you’re selling digital products. Flodesk doesn’t. You keep everything you earn, which for small business owners and creators is absolutely huge.

Oh, and they’ve just added payment plans, so yeah, it does it all.

Want to sell that higher-ticket course but worried about the price point? Set up a payment plan in literally two clicks. Want to offer an upsell at checkout? Done. Want to run a limited-time discount? Easy.

The fact that all of this lives in the same place where I’m already managing my email list means I’m not juggling five different platforms and hoping they all talk to each other properly. It’s all just… there. Working. Beautifully.

Beautiful Design That Actually Makes You Want to Create (The OG Feature)

Yes, there are so many sweet features. But honestly, at its core is what’s the game-changer for creative founders.

It’s the only platform that’s actually a joy to be on.

You actually want to write an email. Build a sales page. And importantly, your people want to read it and enjoy being immersed in your digital space.

I’m going to be real with you: most email marketing platforms make me want to run away screaming. They’re ugly, they’re confusing, and creating something that actually looks good feels like pulling teeth. So what happens? You procrastinate. You put off sending that newsletter. You convince yourself you’ll do it “when you have more time” because subconsciously you know it’s going to be a painful experience.

Flodesk is the complete opposite.

The interface is clean, intuitive, and genuinely beautiful. The templates are stunning right out of the box, but they’re also incredibly easy to customize. The drag-and-drop editor actually works the way you’d expect it to (revolutionary, I know).

There’s no steep learning curve. You can jump straight into email marketing without having to “learn” the platform first. Whether you grab a template (there are so many) or start from scratch, even if you’re the biggest tech-phobe, you’ll be fine.

And here’s the thing that really sets it apart: your subscribers can tell the difference. When your emails are beautifully designed and thoughtfully laid out, people actually want to read them. Your open rates go up. Your click-through rates improve. People respond.

Because we’re not just trying to get information into inboxes anymore. We’re trying to create an experience, build a connection, and stand out in crowded inboxes. You can’t do that with emails that look like they were designed in 1999.

I’ve actually only just learned that they have patented technology (makes sense why it’s the only platform I actually love creating emails in). They’ve figured out something about design and usability that everyone else has missed, and honestly, once you experience it, you can’t go back.

What I’ll Be Using More Of in the Next Year

ManyChat Automation: Growing Your List on Autopilot

I am going hard on building our email list next year (especially with big changes to social channels, we want to make sure we can reach you guys), and this integration has intrigued me for a while now.

In short, you can automatically grow your list on Instagram. You can ask users to drop their email before they get any free goods, no need to tap away at all. It makes it so much easier for both you and the user to get on your list.

If you’ve been paying attention to what’s happening with social media platforms lately, you know that relying solely on Instagram or TikTok or whatever platform is currently hot is a risky strategy. Algorithms change, platforms change their rules, accounts get hacked or suspended. You need to own your audience, and that means getting people onto your email list.

But here’s the traditional problem: getting someone from Instagram to your email list involves so many friction points. They have to click your link in bio, land on a page, enter their email, confirm they’re not a robot, maybe confirm their email address… by step three, you’ve lost half of them.

The ManyChat integration solves this by letting people subscribe directly in Instagram DMs. They comment a keyword, the automation kicks in, and boom—they’re on your list. No leaving the app, no complicated steps, no friction.

I’m genuinely excited to test this out properly in the new year because I think it’s going to be a game-changer for list growth. And the fact that it’s integrated directly with Flodesk means all those new subscribers are automatically flowing into your existing automations and segments.

Spin the Wheel Forms: Because Who Doesn’t Love a Game?

I mean, do we need to say anymore?

SPIN WHEELS.

These are exactly what they sound like—interactive forms where people spin a wheel to “win” a discount or offer before signing up. It’s gamification meets email marketing, and while it might sound gimmicky, the psychology behind it is solid.

People love playing games. People love feeling like they’ve “won” something. And people are way more likely to complete an action (like signing up for your email list) if there’s an element of fun or surprise involved.

We want to play around and see how powerful these can be. They are really fun and we’ll be testing strategies that actually work.

I’m thinking these could be incredible for welcome discounts on product launches, for growing the list during promotional periods, or even just for adding some personality to your sign-up process. Not everything needs to be serious and corporate all the time, you know?

The Bottom Line

Look, I don’t get paid enough by anyone to fake enthusiasm about platforms that don’t deserve it (though yes, I am a Flodesk Partner, transparency matters). But Flodesk genuinely has changed how I approach email marketing and digital product sales. I wouldn’t partner with any software I don’t use religiously.

It’s made the technical stuff easy so I can focus on the creative stuff. It’s made the creative stuff enjoyable so I actually want to show up and do it. And it’s given me the tools to run a more streamlined, professional, and profitable business without needing a tech degree or a massive team.

If you’ve been putting off email marketing because the platforms intimidate you, or if you’ve been stuck in an ugly, clunky system that makes you miserable every time you log in, this might be worth checking out.

Because at the end of the day, the best platform is the one you’ll actually use. And Flodesk? I actually use it. Enthusiastically. Dare I say, lovingly?

Yeah. I’m still in the honeymoon phase, and I don’t see that ending anytime soon.
